FLOYD E. WARD


Floyd E. Ward, 74, Jacobson, died Monday at Aitkin Community Hospital shortly after being admitted.

He was born March 15, 1892 and passed away on April 11, 1966.

He is survived by his wife, Pearl; 3 step daughters, Mrs. Ruth Fredrickson and Mrs. Ray Ohlm, Rochester, and Mrs. Emil Brolik, Washington; two sisters, Mrs. Gust (Olive) Lundquist, and Mrs. Orlie Thompson, Jacobson; and one brother, Lawrence Ward.

Mr. Ward served in WW I in MN CPL - 4 MIL POLICE CO. He was a veteran of WW I, a member of WW I Barracks, Aitkin, and Ponti-Peterson Post 1720 VFW, Grand Rapids, Minnesota.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday from Jacobson Presbyterian church with Rev. Herbert Peters officiating. Interment will be in Ball Bluff Cemetery. Friends may call at Hasskamp Mortuary Thursday afternoon and from 12 noon until time of the service at the church Friday.

CLAUDE LESTER WARD


Funeral services were held for Claude Lester Ward Monday, December 18, from the Jacobson Presbyterian Church with Rev. Herbert Peters officiating.

Burial was in the Ball Bluff Cemetery with the American Legion Post from Warba in attendance.

Claude Lester Ward passed away December 13, 1961, at the Veterans Hospital, Minneapolis after a long illness. He was born at Blooming Prairie, November 21, 1901. He, spent his youth in the Jacobson area with his parents, the late George Wards, and his later years in the Big Fork and Grand Rapids area.

He is survived by his wife, Lois, three sons, Lester of Bovey, and Joe and Claude at home; three daughters, Mrs. Donald Hurlbut (Lorraine), and Judith and Claudia, at home; three brothers, Floyd and Lawrence of Jacobson, and George of Cloquet; two sisters, Mrs. Orlie Thompson and Mrs. Gust (Olive) Lundquist, both of Jacobson, also nine grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Johnson's Funeral Home, McGregor was in charge of arrangements.

HANNAH WARD


Hannah Ward of Jacobson, Minnesota, passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Gust (Olive Ward) Lundquist, February 10, 1950. Mrs. Ward had been in failing health since last fall.

She was born February 7, 1858, at Staxton, England, and came to Quebec, Canada, in 1882, remaining there a few months before going to Blooming Prairie, Minnesota. She was united in marriage to George Ward November 1879 at Brompton, England. The Ward's moved to Cornish township in 1915 and made their home here since then. Mr. Ward passed away December 12, 1935.

Services were held February 14, at 1:30 p.m. at the Jacobson Presbyterian Church with Rev. William Olson of Warba officiating.

Mrs. E. E. Clinite and Mrs. A. H. Schroeder sang "Shall We Gather at the River" and "The Old Rugged Cross" with Mrs. E. L. Valvick as accompanist.

Pallbearers were Harold, Clarence, Clifford, and Lawrence Anderson, Bernard Ward and Alton Thompson.

Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Emil Anderson (Jessie) of Jacobson, Mrs. Gust Lundquist (Olive) of Jacobson; Mrs. Richard Thompson (Orlie) of Jacobson; four sons, George of Cloquet, Floyd of Jacobson, Claude of Big Fork, Lawrence of Jacobson, one sister, Mrs. Theodore Bongaarts, of Lower Lake, California, and 42 grandchildren and 53 great grandchildren. Two sons preceded her in death and two daughters died in infancy.

LAWRENCE ALTON WARD


Lawrence Alton Ward, 70, of McGregor, formerly of Jacobson, passed away Friday, June 15, 1975.

He was born June 15, 1905 in Blooming Prairie. He attended schools in Blooming Prairie and Cornish Township, Jacobson. He married the former Luella Lindman November 8, 1941, at Grand Rapids. He was a logger for many years and was with the Hanna Mining Company for 18 years.

Funeral srvices were held June 23, from the Johnson Funeral Home, McGregor, Rev. Gerald Morgan of Onamia officiating. "How Great Thou Art" and "God Will Take Care of You" were the musical selections. Mrs. Vernon Miller was the organist, and Mrs. Jack Kelley was the soloist.

Pallbearers were Bernard Anderson, Lawrence Anderson, Robert Thompson, Alton Thompson, Floyd H. Ward and Melvin Ward. Interment was in the Ball Bluff Cemetery, Jacobson.

He is survived by his wife, Luella; three sons, George and Norman of South St. Paul, Lawrence of Inver Grove Heights; two daughters, Mrs. David (Joyce) Ross of South St. Paul, Janice at home; nine grandchildren.

BYRON 'BARNEY' O. WARE


Byron O. Ware, 100, died October 10, 2002 at the Aicota Health Care Center in Aitkin.

He was born March 29, 1902, in Sloan, Iowa, the son of Henry and Anna (Ashmore) Ware. He attended schools at Hornick, Iowa; and also the Kings North School near Hornick. He moved with his parents to the Aitkin area in 1920 attending Aitkin High School and graduating in 1922. In the summer of 1919 he worked as a section hand on the Milwaukee Railroad at Rodney, Iowa. He also worked two years for Bill Morris' Heading Mill, working as long as the logs came in. They usually shut down in the summer months. In 1923 he did farm work in Hornick, and in the fall worked a short time for the Cudahay Meat Packing Plant at Sioux City, Iowa.

In 1924, he enrolled at Gustavus Adolphus College at St. Peter, and he continued his education off and on until graduating in 1930 with a B.A. in education. During this time, he had to work to help pay for his education. He worked for the Northern Pacific machine shop at Brainerd as a machinist's helper. In the fall of 1930, he began his teaching career at Bricelyn as a science teacher and athletic coach.

He married Agnes E. West on June 10, 1932, in Brainerd. He continued to teach at Bricelyn until 1937 when he moved to Lake Benton and served as principal and coach. In 1942, they moved to Sibley, Iowa, and he served as part-time principal and taught science and coached. In 1941 they bought a half interes in the Ideal Grocery Store in Aitkin and he operated that until 1956. They also bought a small farm outside of Aitkin in 1945 on Hammel Lake and operated that until 1973. They moved into the Village Apartments in Aitkin in 1986 and he lived there until recently when he moved to the Aicota Health Care Center in Aitkin.

He was a member of First Lutheran Church where he had served on the church council; was an active board member on the Butts School Board, worked with the Hammel Lake Telephone Company as secretary and treasurer; had served as president of the Aitkin Land 'O Lakes Creamery Board; and secretary/treasurer of the Aitkin Livestock Shipping Association; he coached Little League baseball, member of Quarterbacks Club, Cribbage Club, Golden Age Club, and had taught gun safety training. He was known throughout the area for his gardening. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Barney was an accomplished athlete and coach having participated at the college level in baseball, football and basketball. He also had opportunity to coach these sports from the Little League level through the high school level.

Services were held October 14 at the First Lutheran Church in Aitkin with Rev. Lance Isaacson officiating. Nancy Isaacson played the organ and Robert Nelson sang. Pallbearers were: Gerald Bergum, Don Hagestuen, James Woodrow, Doug Blue, Donald Carlson and Bill Carlson. Honorary pallbearers were Terry Dotzler, Maurice Skaj, Dale Beihoffer, Lloyd Knutson and Truman Buisman. Burial was in the Lakeview Cemetery in Aitkin.

He is survived by his sisters-in-law, Mabel Ware and Ruby Ware, both of Aitkin, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Agnes, in 1988; four brothers; and three sisters.

Memorials are preferred to the First Lutheran Church Building Fund.

Arrangements were with the Sorensen-Root-Thompson Funeral Home in Aitkin.

ERNEST WASHBURN


Ernest Washburn, 91, Grand Rapids, and formerly of Hill City, died Oct. 22, 2002, at the Itasca Nursing Home in Grand Rapids.

He was born August 28, 1911, in Swatara, the son of William and Amelia (LaPlant) Washburn. He married Geneva Wagner on Aug. 27, 1934, in Hill City and worked at logging, sawmills and for Hanna Mining Company, retiring in 1974. He was an active member of St. John's Church in Hill City until they moved to Grand Rapids in 1988. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Seven County Senior Federation and the Harris Over 50 Club in Harrison Township. He helped build the Spang Hall, and enjoyed square dancing, playing cards, hunting and fishing. He entered the Itasca Nursing Home in February 2002.

Services were held Oct. 25 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Grand Rapids with Rev. Fr. Thomas Radaich officiating. Burial was in the Macville Cemetery in Macville Township.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Geneva; daughters and sons-in-law; Betty and Carl Manginen, Trout Lake Township, and Carol and Edwin Ott, Aitkin; daughter-in-law, Doris Washburn, Grand Rapids; 14 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren; and sister and brother-in-law, Clara and George Potkanjak, Grand Rapids.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Ernest Washburn Jr.; infant daughter; eight brothers and three sisters.

Arrangements were with the Rowe Funeral Home in Grand Rapids.

TINA WALSH


Tina Marie Walsh, 29, Ironton, died Dec. 21, 2002, at her home.

She was born June 14, 1973, in Tigerton, Wisconsin.

Services were held Dec. 27 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Deerwood with Fr. Howard Eisel officiating. Burial was in the St. Thomas Cemetery in Aitkin.

She is survived by her son, Cody Rogerts; daughter, Kayla Roberts; father and stepmother, Michael and Judith Walsh, Aitkin; mother, Debra Walsh, Brooklyn Park; brothers, Robert Walsh, and Sean Walsh, Coon Rapids; stepbrother, Danial Diemert, Isanti; stepsister, Dawn Creger, Cambridge; grandparents: Al Walsh and Leona Walsh-Stoltz, Brooklyn Park; Jim and Sarah Stewart, Wittenberg, Wisconsin; aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

FREDERICK WACHTER


Frederick "Fred" Wachter, 16, of Wright, died Wed., Nov. 20, 2002 in an auto accident near Wright.

Services were held Nov. 23, at Bethany Lutheran Church in Cromwell, with Rev. Matt Saarem and Rev. Roy Vanderwert officiating. Organists were Kempi and Pauly Granholm. Brandon Jokimaki played guitar. Pallbearers were Brandon Jokimaki, Danny Smith, Taylor Bleamendahl, Danny De Master, Cody Scevezze and Talon Johnson.

He was born Aug. 25, 1986, in Shakopee, to Frederick and Cindy (Schweich) Wachter. He and his family moved to Wright three years ago. He was a tenth grader at Cromwell-Wright High School. He enjoyed being outdoors, hunting and farming.

He is survived by his mother, Cindy, Wright; father, Frederick Wachter, Apple Valley; sister, Nikki O'Conner, Lonsdale; brothers: Jed O'Conner, Lakeville; Andy Wachter, Apple Valley; grandparents, Frederick and Ruth Wachter, Apple Valley.

CHRISTI ANN BENSON WEIGELT


Christi Ann Benson Weigelt, 46, Aitkin, died December 16, 2002.

She was born August 24, 1956, the daughter of Clifward and Charlotte Weigelt.

Services were held January 4 at St. Anne's Catholic Church in Kimball.

She is survived by her husband, Dennis, Aitkin; son, Adam Montour, Aitkin; stepsons, Jesse and Joel Benson; two grandchildren; parents, Clifward and Charlotte Weigelt, South Haven; sisters and brothers; Carla Austin, Champlin; Dean Weigelt, Brainerd; Veronica Weigelt, Brainerd; Anna and husband, Walter Donnay, Andover; Barb Weigelt, Otsego; Butch Weigelt, South Haven; honorary sister-in-law, Shelley John, Lake Shore; and 18 nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Stephen.

LOUIS WESTLING


Lois A. Westling, 79, Aitkin, died December 28, 2002, at the Hallett Cottages in Crosby.

She was born February 3, 1923, in New Castle, Wyoming, the daughter of Oscar and Ruby (Kvenberg) Hoelz. She graduated from Aitkin High School. During World War II, she worked in Washington, D.C., for the Defense Department and she also worked in Minneapolis. She married Duane E. Westling on July 3, 1947, in Aitkin. After marriage the couple lived in Colman, South Dakota, Selby, South Dakota, Sundance, Wyoming and Columbus, North Dakota. Their many family and friends brought Duand and Lois back to Aitkin for their retirement years. She was a supporter of women's causes, a member of the Eastern Star Woodland Chapter 122 and past Worthy Matron, the Democratic Party, Aitkin United Methodist Church and she held several state and local offices with the United Methodist.

Services were held January 2 at the Aitkin United Methodist Church with Rev. Ruth Hograbe and Rev. Allen Clark Harris officiating. Burial was in the Malmo Cemetery.

She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law: Susan and Wes Thomas, Champlin; Rebecca and Bruce Bogema, St. Paul; Laurel Rusch, Burnsville; and Coral and Dan Rickel, Waconia; grandchildren: Lance, Sarah and Briana Schnaible, Darin, Stefanie and Nathan Schilling, Erich and Erin Rusch, Benjamin and Maxwell Rickel; step-great-grandchild, Manon Bellanger; brothers and sisters-in-law; Joel and Phyllis Hoelz, Aitkin, and Murray and Carol Hoelz, Baxter; sister and broter-in-law, ArtisandCarl Orjala, Aitkin; special companion, Ralph Howe, Coon Rapids; and many other relatives and friends.

Lavelle Weber, 79, Aitkin, died January 13, 2003, at the Riverwood Healthcare Center in Aitkin.

She was born August 18, 1923, in Minneapolis, MN.

Burial was in the Ft. Snelling Cemetery in Minneapolis.

She is survived by her sister, Ann Hauge, Aitkin, and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and husband, Arthur.

HENRY WEIMER


Henry "Hank" Weimer, 80, Palisade, died Nov. 16, 2002, at his home after a battle with cancer.

He was born June 5, 1922, in Bird Island, the son of Christopher and Catherine (Lang) Weimer. He was the third of 15 children who grew up on the Weimer homestead in Waukenabo Township. He was a United States Army Veteran serving in World War II. On Jan. 9, 1949, he married Mildred Tasa. They lived first in Aitkin, where he worked for Froehle Turkey Farms. They then moved to Waukenabo Township. He worked 29 years as a forklift operator at Woodland container, retiring in 1984. For many years, he maintained a huge garden and enjoyed woodworking. A few years after his retirement, he began helping Steve and Carol Reinhardt with their farming operations and took great pleasure in checking the cattle during calving season and running the big John Deere during haying season. Deer hunting was always a special time of year for Henry.

Services were held Nov. 18 at the Sorensen-Root-Thompson Funeral Home in Aitkin with Rev. Charles Carlson officiating. Tiffany Gustin played the organ and Chuck Carlson sang. Pallbearers were Steve Reinhardt, Lance Hoss, Lee Gorsuch, Dave Jagger, Lester Mindrum, Stacy Weimer, Rueben Roettger and Dave Carlson. Burial was in the Waukenabo Cemetery with military honors by the Aitkin and Palisade VFW and the Aitkin American Legion.

He is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law: Harley and Linda, Curt and Deb, Dan and Shanen, Gene and Chris and Pat and Kelli, all of Palisade; daughters and sons-in-law: Rose and Dennis Petrick and Cathy and Art Geving, all of Palisade; 13 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law: John and Vi, Palisade, Ray and Agnes, Aitkin; Frank, Minneapolis; Richard and Elaine, Wisconsin; sisters and brothers-in-law: Marie Clark, California; Margaret Nollette and Lorraine and Lambert Mindrum, Palisade and Aicota; Ella Kingsley and Francie and Norman Berg, Hill City; sisters-in-law: Patricia, Palisade; Lola Ann, Hill City; Wanda, Minneapolis; and Virginia, Wisconsin.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mildred, in 1993; and brothers: Albert in infancy, Vernon, Frederick "Fritz," Charlie and Marty.

HELEN WESTERN


Helen J. Western, 81, Redwood Falls, died January 20, 2003, in Redwood Falls.

She was born July 11, 1921, in Aitkin County, the daughter of Claude and Averil (Shisler) Wright. She grew up on the family turkey farm in Aitkin and graduated from Aitkin High School in May of 1938. She married Wendell Western on June 28, 1942 at her parent's home in Aitkin County. They operated a farm together in Drammen Township, Lincoln County, from July 1942 until March 1959 when they moved to a farm in Three Lakes Township, Redwood County. Wendell died suddenly on December 27, 1971. After his death, she remained on the farm and completed her education graduating in December 1973 from the University of Minnesota. She worked as the director of Senior Nutrition Services for Western Community Action of Marshall serving nine counties in the southwest region of the state. She retired on June 1, 1989. In February, 1996 she moved into Redwood Falls. She was most recently a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Redwood Falls and had been a membe of the Lake Benton and New Avon United Methodist Churches. She was active in church including Sunday School teacher, member of choir and women's association. She served as a 4-H Leader for 27 years from 1943 until 1958 in Lincoln County and from 1959 until 1971 in Redwood County. She served two terms as member of the Senior Commission of the Redwood Falls City Council. She was a member, served on the board of the directors and served as secretary of Senior Center and served as project voluntter for the intergenerational center. She was a community arts supporter; member of Beta of Clovia Soroity and Home Economists in Homemaking. Among her interests were gardening, arts/painting, sewing, reading, music, traveling, cooking and computers. Even in the most recent years she still had entries in the Redwood County Fair.

Services were held January 25 at the First Presbyterian Church in Redwood Falls with Pastor Scott Prouty officiating. Burial was in the Redwood Falls Cemetery in Redwood Falls.

She is survived by her children and their spouses: Elaine and Paul Hagen, Belview; Gwenneth El Sawi and Mohamed Kamal, Highland, Maryland; Marilee and Captain N. Frank Cantelmo Jr., Marshfield Hills, Massachusetts; Loreen Western and Ralph King, New Market, Maryland; Dan Western and Catherine Schultz, Falls Church, Virginia; grandchildren: Omar El Sawi, Ammera Schmidt, Kim Hagen, Brent Hagen, Alysia Cantelmo, Nathan Cantelmo, Caitlyn Cantelmo, Jack Western, Julia Western, Luke King and Sianna King; great-grandson, Skyler Schmidt; and brothers and sister-in-law, Carl Wright and Norman and Dorothy Wright, all of Aitkin.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wendell; brothers, Dale and Herbert; and sister, Ruth.

Arrangements were with the Nelson-Martin Funeral Service in Redwood Falls and Morgan.

OMER WATHERN


Wathern, Omer "Bill," was born November 12, 1923 in Swatara and died July 17, 2003 in Madison, aged 79. Omer's father was William Wathern and his mother, Lola Randall. He worked as a welder and farmer. He was married first to Margaret Sjolie, who was born May 17, 1947 and second to Lois Skallen, born July 23. 1988. He was buried in the Ness Lutheran Cemetery in Madison Township

LORRAYNE WIKELIUS



Lorrayne S. Wikelius, 89, Alexandria, formerly of Aitkin, died October 6, 2003, at the Knute Nelson Memorial Home in Alexandria.

She was born January 1, 1914, at Monticello, the daughter of Jacob and Mary (Menth) Fyle. She grew up and attended school in Monticello and after graduation moved to Aitkin. She married Edward Wikelius on November 9, 1945, in Aitkin. She worked for the Aitkin County Courthouse and also the school district. She and her husband farmed for many years in Aitkin. When her health failed she moved to Alexandria and lived with her sisters until she moved to the Knute Nelson Memorial Home.

Funeral services were held October 9 from St. James Catholic Church in Aitkin with Fr. Paul Fruth officiating. Alice Hudson played the organ and Cathy Nadeau sang. Burial was in the Lake View Cemetery in Aitkin. Pallbearers were Tony Fyle, Jeremy Fyle, Brad Fyle, Jeffrey Fyle, Michael Powers and Greg Wikelius.

She is survived by sons, Allen "Corky" Wikelius, out of state; Gary Wikelius, Watkins; daughter, Carol Wikelius, Los Angeles, California; five grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law, Larry and Lois Fyle, Nisswa, and Gene and Joyce Fyle, Monticello; sisters, Barb Rooney, Cambridge, Delrose Rank, Los Angeles, California; Sister Mary Blanche Fyle and Sister Mary Sharon Fyle, both of Alexandria; special loved ones, Gary and Mary Lindgren, Aitkin.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Ed in 1977; and son James in 1971.

ROBERT WRIGHT



Robert E. Wright, 89, Evansville, Wyoming, formerly of Aitkin, died on January 18, 2003, at Westview Health Care Center in Sheridan, Wyoming.

He was born on July 16, 1913, in Aitkin, to Leo and Edith Wright. He grew up in Aitkin and graduated from Aitkin High School. Before leaving Aitkin in 1951, he farmed, helped construct the rock way-side rest area in Garrison, drove truck during the building of the Alcan Highway, and he owned his own automotive repair shop in downtown Aitkin. After leaving Aitkin, he moved to Casper, Wyoming, where he was employed by Spaniel Ford priorto opening his own auto body shop. In his later years he rebuilt and restored Harley Davidson motorcycles.

He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Everett and Lois Wright; daughters and sons-in-law, Jo and Roy Mundervoski, Owatonna, Donna and Donald Eye, Lake Havasue City, Arizona, Linda and Francis Garcea, San Jose, California, and Nancy Wright; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law, Donald and Elgia Wright, Mondovi, and Roger and June Wright, Aitkin.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.

Albert L. Woodbridge was born in Minneapolis on Aug. 2, 1897 and passed away at his home in Minneapolis on June 9, 1968 at the age of 70 years, ten months and seven days. Funeral services were held at the O.E. Larson Chapel and Funeral Home at 2301 Central Avenue N.E. on Wednesday, June 12, 1968 at ten in the morning. Services were conducted by Dr. Richard V. Clearwaters of the Fourth Baptist church. Soloist was Mrs. Robert Holmquist accompanied on the organ by Mrs. Esther Eclov, singing, “When I get to the End of Way” and “In the Garden.”

Survivors include his wife, Louise; daughters, Mrs. Milton Stultz (Mildred) of Denver, Colo.; Mrs. Burton Anderson (Marjorie) of Tamarack, Betty Ann Woodbridge at home, seven grandchildren and two brothers, Raymond of Denver, Colo. and Robert, California.

Burial was in Round Lake cemetery at Tamarack.

Attending the funeral from a distance were Mrs. Wm. Peters (Alice Fairchild) of St. Paul and Mrs. Robert Carlson (Phyllis Fairchild) and son Steven of Edina, Mr. and Mrs. Burton Anderson, Mrs. Max Kent, Tamarack and many from Minneapolis.

Albert came to Tamarack with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. Woodbridge, five brothers and one sister in about 1910 from Minneapolis and lived southwest of town for the next thirty years. They did some farming on their home near the Rice Lake School. Mrs. Woodbridge, Sr. was well known, doing practical nursing as long as she was able. The family returned to Minneapolis in 1945.

LOUISE FAIRCHILD GREEN WOODBRIDGE


H. Louise Woodbridge, 75, of Aitkin and formerly of Tamarack, died October 28, 1980, at the Aitkin Community Nursing Home.

Born September 5, 1905, in Minneapolis, she was an area resident since 1969 and retired licensed practical nurse.

Funeral Services were conducted October 31, at the Round Lake Cemetery with Pastor Delmar Peterson officiating.

Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Burton (Marjorie) Anderson of Tamarack, Mrs. Milton (Mildred) Schultz of Denver, Colorado, Betty Woodbridge of Jacobson; one sister, Mrs. Robert (Phyllis) Carlson of Minneapolis; seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

FRANK WEIMER


Frank R. Weimer, 74, Minneapolis, formerly of Aitkin, died Sept. 19, 2004, at his home in Minneapolis.

He was born April 22, 1930, in Waukenabo Township, Aitkin County, the son of Christopher and Catherine (Lang) Weimer. He grew up and attended schools in Waukenabo Township and also helped on the family farm. He then moved to Aurora and worked for the Eire Mining Co. He married Marilyn Arness on May 11, 1957, in Aitkin. They lived at Hay Point for a short time and then he moved to Minneapolis and worked as a cement finisher for most of his life. He has lived in Minneapolis since. He was a member of the Operative Plasterers and Cement Masons in Minneapolis and the Laidlaw American Legion of South Minneapolis.

Funeral services will be held Thu., Sept. 23, at 1 p.m. from the Sorensen-Root-Thompson Funeral Home in Aitkin with visitation from 11 a.m. until the 1 p.m. service. Visitation will also be held from 5-8 p.m. at the O.E. Larson-Osborne Mortuary in Minneapolis on Wednesday. Burial will be in the Waukenabo Cemetery in Aitkin County.

He is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Kelly and Sandra Weimer, Champlin; Tony and Robin Weimer, Coon Rapids; Craig Weimer, Minneapolis; and Shawn and Tammy Weimer, Blaine; 10 grandchildren; brothers, Ray Weimer, Palisade; John Weimer, Aitkin; and Richard Weimer, Eagle River, Wis.; sisters, Margaret Nollette, Palisade; Lorraine Mindrum, Palisade; Marie Clark, Calif.; Ella Kingsley and Francis Berg, Hill City; and Lydia Wiswell, Waconia. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife in 1979, and six brothers.

Arrangements are with the Sorensen-Root-Thompson Funeral Home in Aitkin.
